The owner of Scooters Bar & Grill at 507 Danbury Road in New Milford announced the decision to shutter the restaurant in a Facebook post.
It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of Scooter’s this Monday Oct 7. I’ve made the difficult decision to step away in order to focus on other businesses and spend more time with my family. The support from this community over the years has meant the world to me, and I’ll never forget the memories we’ve created together. While this chapter is coming to a close, the connections we’ve built will stay with me. You just might see me around Connecticut soon. Please stop in this weekend to celebrate! Loyal customers of the Litchfield County bar were dismayed at the news.
"Noooooooo where am I going to get chicken scarp from now????" one woman wrote. "Are you kidding me," posted another.
Others were less dramatic but still unhappy with the decision.
"So sorry to hear about this, Vilson, but wishing you all the best with your family and other ventures! We always enjoyed playing at Scooters — and the PEI mussels were the best!" one person posted.
